Laboratory Records

about.

in the summer of 1999, dc singer-songwriter laura burhenn had just recorded her first solo album and wasn’t quite sure what to do with it. unwilling to wait around for a label to make her, she opted to make her own label. a trip to a courthouse and a little paperwork later, laboratory records was born.

laboratory has grown slowly, releasing two of laura’s full length records (not ashamed to say in 1999 and wanderlust in 2004) as well as a split 7” record in 2003 that features laura on side a and dagon james (the last night) on side b.

when laura joined up with john davis (q and not u) and formed georgie james in 2004, laboratory funded their not-officially-released EP, demos at dance place.

january 2007 has brought laboratory’s latest release to light. need your needs, the new single from georgie james, features two tracks from their upcoming album as well as a cover of “el condor pasa (if i could)”.

all in-print releases are available at dischord.com.
